About Steve Drevik

Corbis

I am a native of Knox County and have lived here almost all of my life, including living half of my life in the Fourth district. I graduated from Bearden High School in 1984, and from the University of Tennessee with a Master's Degree in Engineering (1990) with Honors. I worked for 20 years with Environmental Systems Corporation and now act as President of Agilaire, an environmental software company focused on air quality, where we work with both public agencies and private industry on air quality issues. My work has allowed me the opportunity to work with over 100 county and state agencies, giving me an unequalled level of experiences and ideas from which to draw.

I reside with my wife and daughter in the Fourth District, enjoying the beautiful mountains and lakes that East Tennessee has to offer, as well as the wonderful people, arts, and community events here in Knoxville.

This campaign represents the start of my political career, changing from activist/bystander and letter-writer. As a part-time policy wonk, my experience digging into government budget details and my detailed understanding of both sides of environmental, economic, and and growth issues will serve the County well. I also plan to bring my experience from working with other county and state government agencies to create new solutions for the citizens of Knox County.

My personal interests have had me involved in lobbying for veteran's care funding, as well as being a long-term supporter of Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties (ADFAC), the American Cancer Society, Doctors Without Borders, and other organizations related to environmental and health issues.

Conflict of Interest Disclosures:

  • I have a brother-in-law that works in in the Property Assessor's Office (not in a senior position, though).
  • My company (Agilaire) has a contract with Knox County Air Pollution Control to provide support and upgrades for a piece of software sold to them roughly 15 years ago. We've been proud to be a good vendor to the County, but to avoid any conflicts of interest, I would agree to have Agilaire provide this support/upgrade servce at no additional charge during my term on Commission.
